Luigi De Laurentiis Award handed out at Venice Film Festival

The Luigi De Laurentiis Award for a Debut Film was given out at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on Saturday.

The winning film was You will die at 20 by Sudanese director Amjad Abu Alala.

The Luigi De Laurentiis Award was set up in 1996 by Filmauro and Aurelio De Laurentiis in honour and in memory of his father Luigi.

As well as claiming the Lion of the Future prize, the winner of the award also receives $100,000 – provided by Aurelio and Luigi De Laurentiis – to be divided equally between the director and the producer.
