A special event was organised on Tuesday evening as head coach Luciano Spalletti and defenders Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Amir Rrahmani met with the fans at the Folgarida Congress Centre, responding to questions from the crowd.

Read on to find out what they had to say.

Spalletti

“Our basic formation is 4-3-3 but we can play with a man in the hole too. We can set up both ways depending on the sort of players we have.

“I expect my team to be ambitious, always looking to improve on the previous year. We must work hard to ensure we lay the foundations for a successful season.

“Last year we did really well to get back into the Champions League. We won lots of games in convincing fashion and the lads deserve a lot of credit for what we achieved.

“[Kalidou] Koulibaly is the kind of player I'd always want to have in my team because he's an incredible player. Of course if he wanted to leave, we'd thank him for everything he has given Napoli on and off the field. If he stays, I'll make him captain. If he were to leave, we'd wish him well because deserves it.

“The transfer window is open and we're weighing up our options to complete our squad. We have some very good young players too and if they fulfil their potential they could end up surprising a lot of people.

“[Khvicha] Kvara[tskhelia] and [Mathias] Olivera are two very handy players who I'm sure will prove themselves here. They won't take long to settle in and adapt to Italian football.

“[Victor] Osimhen is an amazing striker who can get even better. I'm sure that if he can stay fit and available this season, he can really show us what he's capable of.

“I wouldn't rule out playing three at the back but it's not our main idea because I think this team is better suited to a four-man defence.

“Coaching Napoli is an amazing job. When I was younger I used to watch the stars who played for this club, including the greatest of all time of course, Diego Maradona. Going to that stadium is a special feeling.”

Rrahmani

“I've learnt so much from Koulibaly and I hope to carry on playing with him at Napoli. He's one of the best defenders in the world and it's an honour to play alongside him.

“The best player I've ever played against is fortunately in the same team as me: Osimhen. We have battles at the training ground every day. He's an incredible striker.

“Ever since I was a child, my dream was to play at the top level of the game. I'm very happy to play for Napoli.

“Playing for this club is an honour for me. I hope to stay here and help Napoli achieve the success this city deserves.

“We're a close-knit team and there are lots of fun guys here. The dressing room is full of decent people who help each other and exude positive energy.”

Di Lorenzo

“I'm very happy in Naples. My family and I really like it here.

“I'm a right-back by trade but I can play in central defence if needs be, as I have done in the past.

“We're very excited about the coming season. We're back in the Champions League and we want to be successful. We can't wait to get started.”
