The Belgian winger was signed from PSV, 5-year contract

SSC Napoli announces the permanent signing of Belgian winger Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven.

Mertens has signed a 5-year contract.

- CAREER AND HONOURS -

Dries Mertens was born in Lovanio, Belgium, on May 6th 1987.
He made his debut with Eendracht Aalsts in the 2005/2006 season and scored 4 goals in 14 matches. Then he became the captain of Agow with 30 goals in 108 matches between 2006 and 2009. He was subsequently signed by Utrecht, 16 goals in 65 matches between 2009 and 2011, and last was transferred to Eredivise club PSV Eindhoven, 37 goals in 62 matches between 2011 and 2013.

During his career, Mertens has won the 2011/12 Dutch Cup and the 2012 Dutch Super Cup, both with PSV Eindhoven.

As for European Cups, he has played 29 matches (12 with Utrecht and 17 with PSV) and scored 7 goals (3 with Utrecht and 4 with PSV). He faced Napoli both while playing for Utrecht and for PSV, scoring one goal in the 3-0 defeat of the Azzurri in Eindohven on October 4th 2012. 

He has also 19 call-ups and 3 goals with Belgium national team and 4 call-ups with Belgium national Under-17 team.
