The refereeing appointments have been made for this weekend’s round of fixtures in Serie A

Paolo Mazzoleni has been named as the referee for Sunday afternoon’s game between Fiorentina and Napoli at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The rest of the officiating team will be comprised by assistants Gianluca Vuoto and Fabiano Preti, fourth official Daniele Doveri and VAR officials Davide Massa and Filippo Meli.

Mazzoleni has been taking charge of competitive fixtures in Serie A and B for 14 years, overseeing 186 games in the former and 78 in the latter. His top-flight debut came during Lazio 3-1 Treviso on 18 September 2005.

The 44-year-old has refereed 21 Napoli matches, comprising a Coppa Italia tie and an Italian Super Cup. Our record in the middle reads nine wins, five draws and seven defeats. Highlights include the 4-2 loss after extra time in the Super Cup held in Beijing on 12 August 2012, Napoli’s 3-0 win against AC Milan in May 2015 and the 3-1 victory over Bologna earlier this year.

Overall, Mazzoleni has presided over 112 home wins, 65 draws and 87 away wins. He averages four yellow cards a game and one red card every four games. He blows up for approximately 34 fouls every match and gives penalties at a rate of one every three games.
