The Napoli full-back looks ahead to Saturday's game in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss

Mario Rui has praised Napoli's recent form and improved mentality ahead of what is sure to be a testing fixture against Lazio on Saturday.

The Azzurri have won their last seven league games and seem to have learnt to grind out results in recent weeks.

"Against Benevento we showed we can scrap when we have to because it wasn't at all easy,” the defender explained in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss.

“They deserve credit because they got their game plan spot on but we managed to get the better of them in the end and claim the points.

“I think we have a stronger mentality now. We've collected some excellent results from a tough run of games – now we just have to try and keep it up.”

Napoli's winning streak will be put to the test on Saturday when Lazio visit the San Paolo, with Simone Inzaghi's side having lost their last two matches.

“Lazio are going to be a very difficult proposition. They'll be smarting after their recent results and determined to bounce back. We're going to have to be totally on the ball because they're sure to be really up for it.”

Rui also spoke about how things have changed since he played under Maurizio Sarri at Empoli a couple of seasons ago.

"He's just as determined to win now as he was back then. Sarri is the sort of coach who leaves no stone unturned. His methods are very intense.

“The difference compared to Empoli is that we're challenging for the title now so we're even more motivated to go beyond our limits and produce our absolute best, which is what we've done so far.

"We and Juventus are flying at the moment but there's a long way to go until May. We mustn't think about the league table, just on giving our all in each and every game.”

Finally, the Portuguese was asked when he might open his Napoli account.

“I'm trying! I nearly managed it against Bologna. Hopefully I'll break my duck soon – even better if it's a really important goal.”
