Assistants De Meo and Longo, fourth official La Penna, Doveri and Giallatini on VAR duty

Maurizio Mariani has been appointed as the referee for Napoli’s trip to face Crotone on Friday evening.

He will be joined by assistants Pasquale De Meo and Salvatore Longo, fourth official Federico La Penna and VAR officials Daniele Doveri and Alessandro Giallatini.

Mariani, 35, has been officiating in the top two flights for seven years. His debut in Serie A came on 6 January 2013 and since then he has overseen 47 fixtures in the division, including three Napoli matches: Napoli 2-0 Empoli on 26 October 2016, Napoli 3-0 Crotone on 11 March 2017 and SPAL 2-3 Napoli on 23 September this season.

In total, he has refereed 123 competitive matches, 56 of which were home wins, 28 were draws and 39 were away wins. He has given out 653 yellow cards – more than five a game – and 54 red cards, which equates to one every two matches. He awards penalties at a rate of one every two games as well.
