The 32-year-old referee will take charge of his second Napoli game on Saturday

Rosario Abisso has been appointed to referee Napoli’s clash against Hellas Verona on Saturday afternoon. Abisso will be joined by assistants Vuoto and Santoro, fourth official Abbattista and VAR operators Maurizio Mariani and Passeri.

Abisso, 32, is in his first season as a Serie A referee, after three seasons in Serie B. He made his Serie A debut in Chievo 0-0 Torino on 6 January 2015. He has taken charge of 15 games in Serie A and 58 in Serie B.

Abisso has taken charge of Napoli just once, the Partenopei’s 3-0 win over Cagliari on 1 October 2017.

Of the 73 Serie A and B matches he has officiated, Abisso has overseen 32 home wins (43.8%), 22 draws (30.1%) and 19 away wins (26%). He has shown 448 yellow cards (over six per game) and 33 red cards (nearly one over two games), awarded 33 penalties (nearly one every two games) and given 2224 fouls (over 30 per game).
